The first painting of a body of work in dialogue with Al-Ghazali
Some paintings complete a collection; this one begins the next. Reflections in Green has stood apart from the first - deliberately kept out of the Hu Collection, and chosen instead to front the studio’s homepage - because it belongs to what comes next: a body of work now taking shape in dialogue with the writings of Imam Al-Ghazali, the great theologian of the inner life.

A new chapter in the studio
The collection is unhurried and largely unannounced - paintings will join this page as they are completed. It continues the thread that runs through all of my work, the Islamic spiritual heritage and the classical Arabic literary tradition, approached here through Al-Ghazali. Alongside it, a body of work exploring Al-Busiri’s Burda is also underway in the studio.
